SOP: Operation and calibration of water bath.

OBJECTIVE:

To ensure that there is standard procedures followed for Operation and calibration of Thermostatic Controlled Water Bath and ensure efficient working of the instrument.

SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable for operation and calibration of Thermostatic Controlled Water Bath in Qc department.

REFERENCE:

Instrument manual and in-house.

RESPONSIBILITY:

QC – officers, executives – To follow the procedure for operation and calibration as per SOP.

QC Head – To ensure proper execution of SOP.

QA – To ensure SOP is being properly implemented.

PROCEDURE:

Precautions:

Ensure that the water bath is clean & free from dust.

Fill the water bath with clean and soft water to the required level but above the heater.

Steps for Operations:

Plug in the mains and put on the main switch.

The digital controller will indicate the bath temperature.

Set the temperature by pressing { } or { } and press to confirm set temperature.

The display will go in normal mode & it will show process value & now the heaters will start & temperature will start raising & when the set temperature is reached Thermostats will start functioning to maintain the set temperature.

Steps for Calibration:

Check that water bath is clean.

Fill water bath with water.

Switch ON the mains.

Set the temperature 50,70,90 & 100°C

Wait to achieve set temperature.

Check the temperature at set points by standard thermometer.

Note the display temperature & observed temperature

Operational frequency:- As & when required.

Calibration frequency:- Once in six months.
