SOP for filter cleaning of HVAC system
OBJECTIVE: To define the cleaning procedure for filters of HVAC system.
SCOPE: This SCP is applicable for cleaning of filters of HVAC system.
REFERENCE: In-house
RESPONSIBILITY:. Maintenance Technician – To clean filters of HVAC system as per SCP. Maintenance Head-To ensure SOP is being followed.QA – To ensure the implementation of SOP.

SOP : Standard Operating Procedure
LDPE : Low Density Polyethylene
SCP : Standard Cleaning Procedure
AHU : Air Handling Unit
HVAC : Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning
PROCEDURE:
1. Ensure that the HVAC system is ‘OFF’ and put ‘To Be Cleaned’ label on it.
2. Ensure that the compressed air supply is ‘ON’.
3. Cleaning Procedure for 10.0µ Filters
3.1 Following 10.0 µ filters should be cleaned as per procedure.
a) Fresh Air Filter
b) Riser Filter
c) Return Air Filter
3.2 Open the filter plenum access cover, remove the filter of respective units and placed the cleaned spare filter.
3.3 In the case when particular AHU is under maintenance or cleaning process during which if riser filters of the same AHU are cleaned they can fitted back to its position without using spare ones if they are dried properly.
3.4 If any defect in the filters is found, replace them with new one as per the specification.
3.5 If they are found in good condition, start the cleaning activity.
3.6 Carry the filters in a LDPE bag to the filter cleaning room (Near HVAC & Allied Services Area).
3.7 Clean the filter by potable water at pressure of about 1 to 3 Kg/cm2 and ensure that no dust remains inside the filter.
3.8 Dry the filter by applying a jet of compressed air at about 1 to 3 Kg/cm2 pressure.
3.9 Visually check that there are no water droplets on the filter after cleaning and ensures that they are thoroughly dried.
3.10 Carry the filters in clean LDPE bag approve the cleaning by Q.A. person and keep it as a spare.
4. Cleaning Procedure of 3.0µ Pre Filter
4.1 Open the plenum access cover and remove filters of respective units and placed the cleaned filter.
4.2 If any defect is found, replace them with new one as per the specification.
4.3 If they are found in good condition, start the cleaning activity.
4.4 Carry the filter in a LDPE bag to the filter cleaning room (Near HVAC & Allied Services Area).
4.5 Clean the filter by potable water at pressure of about 1 to 3 Kg/cm2 and ensure that no dust remains inside the filter.
4.6 Dry the filter by applying a jet of compressed air at about 1 to 3 Kg/cm2 pressure.
4.7 Visually check that there are no water droplets on the filter after cleaning and ensure that they are thoroughly dried.
4.8 Carry the filters in clean LDPE bag approve the cleaning by Q.A. person and keep it as a spare.
FREQUENCY:
1. Fresh Air and Riser Filters (10.0µ) :-Weekly
2. Return Air Filters (10.0µ) & Pre Filters (3.0µ):-15 Days
