SOP of good laboratory practices (GLP)

SOP of good laboratory practices (GLP)

Objective:To avoid any error or mistake during performance of analysis.

Scope:

This SOP provoids guideline for GLP

Responsibility:

Quality control Manager

Quality control Officer

Procedure:

While performing any analysis always follows respective SOP.

Use only pure (AR/GR grade) material for standardization.

Use calibrated volumetric glassware only, when accurate dilutions are required.

Ensure that the temp during dilution at the time of volumetric measurement & standardization is maintained. i.e. 25 oC

Rinse the burette or other vessel use to collect the volumetric solution with the solution to be standardized.

While dilution, always add conc. Acid slowly to the water, never to water to acid.

Handle the chemical & solvent in a way to avoid spillage on the working table & floor.

Increase of any spillage immediately clean the affected area, according the type of spillage.

Wear a full seal goggles & safety mask while handling the conc. acid & conc. bases.

Never try & adjust the PH of a solution in a narrow neck container always use beaker.

Never leave a stick or a spatula in to a container of solid reagent.

Never return unused reagent to the reagent container. Contamination of the whole reagent is more costly than the small amount of reagent discarded.

Store the light sensitive reagent/ solution in the light resistant (Amber Colour) containers only.

Label all the reagent with name, Strength, prepared By, Due date.

During titration in case of colorless solution in burette use lower meniscus as the reading, in case of colored solution use upper meniscus.

Always fill burette taking it away from the stand in to the hand & using a glass funnel adjust the zero before starting titration.

Never use broken glassware & in case of idometric titration use iodine flask.

Store toxic & flammable chemical in a separate area under lock & key.

Store all reference standard & stock of working standard in specified area.

Working standard in use are to be store in the desicator provided & bottles are sealed immediately after their use.

Never use any chemical reaction taking place on the gas i.e. boiling, distillation, refluxing unattended.

Check the LPG valve first & then put off the compressor while working with them.

Never look directly in to the UV light.

For analysis use always calibrated instruments.

While cleaning any electrode of either PH meter or conductivity meter clean them with purified water & wipe out with the help of a tissue paper gently.
