SOP operation of boiler.

OBJECTIVE:To provide written guidelines for operation of boiler.

SCOPE:The procedure is applicable for operation of boiler located in utility area.

REFERENCE:In house.

RESPONSIBILITY:1. Maintenance Technician – To operate the boiler as per SOP.

2. Maintenance Head-To ensure SOP is being followed.
3. QA – To ensure the implementation of SOP.

PROCEDURE:

1. Boiler Start Up Process

1.1 Switch ON the boiler three phase supply MCB.

1.2 Check water level in boiler water storage tank.

1.3 Check the diesel level in diesel storage tank.

1.4 Open water and diesel line valves.

1.5 Close steam outlet valve.

1.6 Ensure the temperature of steam safety setting maximum up to 1800C (i. e Temperature on display should not be more than 1800C)

1.7 Turn the front side panel switch to “Fill” position for cooling.

1.8 Ensure that water pump is started.

1.9 Ensure the water comes out from cooling outlet line.

1.10 When water comes out from cooling outlet line then turn the front side panel switch position “Fill to Fire”.

1.11 Check the diesel or fuel pump is started.

1.12 Ensure that steam comes out from cooling outlet line.

1.13 When steam comes out from cooling outlet line then open steam outlet valve and close cooling outlet valve.

1.14 Check steam pressure cut off position setting (should NMT 7 Kg/cm2).

1.15 During working, check the steam temperature on temperature controller display after time intervals.

1.16 Open the outside drain trap bypass valve for excess water draining. Close it when steam goes out completely from it.

2. Boiler Shut Down Process

2.1 Open the “cooling outlet valve” and close “steam outlet valve”.

2.2 Turn the front side panel switch to “Fill” position (for cooling).

2.3 When temperature decreases about 400C then turn the front side panel switch position “Fill” to “OFF”.

2.4 Close water and diesel line valve and also check the diesel balance.

2.5 Switch OFF the three phase supply MCB.

FREQUENCY:

As and when steam is required.
